Top 10 Games of All time

This list is going to vary from person to person.  As there is no official “Top 10 Games” I’m going to post what I consider to be the 10 most influential games of the last 20 years and explain why.  This list is in no particular order.
1. Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (PC)

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was easily one of my favorite titles of the late 90’s.  It was one of the first games to do 3d FPS well and it combined that with a intriguing story line, use of lightsabers and a good mix of weapons.  It’s also intersting to note that it was the first time that live action Star Wars movies had been filmed since the original triliogy.  While it’s graphics are dated by todays standards at the time it was top notch.  I can attest to play many hours on this game.  It also gave spawn to a sequel called Mysteries of the Sith.
2. Half-Life (PC)

There was a lot of hype back in the late 90’s about a FPS title called Half Life “This game is going to change the way FPS are played” said a PC gamer article at the time.  Fast forward 11 years and PC gamer wasn’t wrong, with over 6 million in sales, Half Life is one of the best selling games of all time.  It took FPS and gaming in general to a whole new level with it’s state of the art graphics, physics, scary intelligent AI that wasn’t scripted and introduced a new multiplayer element.  This game also gave rise to several of the most successful multiplayer mods in history with titles such as Day of Defeat, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.   These games are still played at LANS/Tournaments across the globe.  The impact of Half-Life to this day cannot be denied.
3. Knights of the Old Republic Series (PC, Xbox)

Everyone has heard of this game.  If you haven’t then you need to get off farmville and check it out.  One of the best RPG ‘s to date offered amazing story telling with, good graphics, amazing party system and the most immersive Star Wars universe ever created.
4. Crysis (PC)

You could reasonably say that Cysis is a benchmarking program.  If your computer can run crysis it can run about anything on the market.  Crysis set the bar for graphics, and it still does in some cases.  There are very few games on the market that can match it’s graphical prowress.  It’s coined the term “… but can it run Crysis?”.  Crysis may not be the best when it comes to story or overall content but it changed the way we view what games are capeable of.
5.   Tie Fighter (PC)

The beloved Star Wars Space Sim.  Long may it rest upon it’s throne.
6. Goldeneye: 007 (N64)

Before there was Halo, Half-Life, or Gears of War there was Goldeneye.  One of the most acclaimed console FPS of the time.  It also provided one of the best single player campaigns based of a movie.  It also introduced a very addictive multiplayer mode.
7. Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

Zelda is an amazing RPG/single player narrative.  While the graphics aren’t that amazing the puzzel solving and epic story makes for an amazing game experience.  If you haven’t played this game you need to buy a N64/Gamecube and play this game.  You owe it to yourself.
8. Starcraft (PC)

Argueably the one of the best RTS ever made.  People still live and die by this game years after it’s release.
9.  Final Fantasy 7 (PS2)

I must admit I have never played this game.  I need to however as I am playing through Final Fantasy 13 and it’s pretty close to one of the most amazing games ever.
10. Myst (PC)

Best adventure series period… there has yet to be a game that comes to these in graphical beauty, puzzle solving and overall story.
