BFG Exiting Graphics Card Market

After 8 years of producing graphics cards BFG announced today that it will be exiting the graphics card market.   The company stated that it will continue selling it’s line of power supplies, notebooks and gaming computers.
“After eight years of providing innovative, high-quality graphics cards to the market, we regret to say that this category is no longer profitable for us, although we will continue to evaluate it going forward”, said John Slevin, chairman of BFG Technologies. “We will continue to provide our award-winning power supplies and gaming systems, and are working on a few new products as well. I’d like to stress that we will continue to provide RMA support for our current graphics card warranty holders, as well as for all of our other products such as power supplies, PCs and notebooks.”
UPDATE: BFG has said that they will continue to honor the warranties of all of it’s exisiting graphics card customers.  So if you are current owner of a BFG graphics card you can rest easy knowing you are still under warranty.

I always thought of BFG as a flagship for the videocard industry. This is a sad blow. I’m sure the console fanboys will start coming out of the woodwork soon saying how PC gaming is dying because of this. Real sad day.

Yes sad day indeed. However i did have some problems with my card. I had to RMA a number of times and I’m sure those RMA problems add up in costs for the company. I’m not the only one that had RMA problems either.

I have a couple of BFG cards in my computer. They have really top notch customer service and stand behind their product.

BFG was never a cornerstone or heavy hitter in the graphics card industry — but they definitely had a solid following, and amazing tech support. The PC platform is hardly dying… BFG is just facing extremely stiff competition, i.e. EVGA, as well as ATI suppliers. Most folks out there buy EVGA… the marketing engine they have is very powerful, so despite problems they’ve had or a lack of warranty in contrast to BFG, they still sweep up most of the business.

Really? Evga? I haven’t purchased a EVGA product in ages. If I purchase products at all they’ve traditionally been PNY, XFX and BFG. My 5850 is the first time I’ve ever bought outside of that group.
I’ve always shy’d away from EVGA for some reason. I’ve never been impressed with their products to be perfectly honest.
Is ATI cheaper to produce? What seems to be the issue?

Evga has been better than BFG for quite some time. I don’t know how you can miss them, unless you just shop the pny ghetto isle at best buy. And I agree with T8. You do suck.
Back on topic, BFG made decent cards. But I’ve bought every brand, even that PNY crap. The difference is ongoing no questions asked support. It’s too bad they’re out of the market. Too bad..

The possessive “its” comes without apostrophe. How hard is that?

If all you can grab from the article is that there is an apostrophe in the wrong place then you are a complete and total idiot sir.
