It’s the summer and it is time again for the great gaming drought, it just so happens Xbox Live Arcade has 5 titles quenching your pallete in this time of need. The first title in the summer of arcade is Limbo, a game very light on plot until you understand what it is set out to do. Underneath it’s grey, grim exterior is one of the most compelling games and one of my favorite this year.
Woke up in a grey haze.…
The game starts as a young boy wakes up in a black an white world and the only plot you are given is your sister is in trouble. This small boy passes fears, giant spiders, machinery and several other dangers on the principle of the love for his sister. This is one game where you have to take interpertation of the world in order to have a handle on the plot.
You have to time the jump.…
This is a platformer through out. The puzzles they create in the game can go from simple block pushing to using gravity to manipulate the world. All of the puzzles are created with such care that if I was ever stuck I would not be cursing and throwing controllers, after the answer presented it’s self, I would think to myself “you coy little designer you, it was right in front of my blind eyes”. The gameplay is polished through out and never once does the gameplay take hinderence to the puzzles.
Limbo is a game that everyone who enjoys games should atleast try. It is a little on the short side, I completed the game in around 4 hours, and there is alot of trial and error, but once you reach the end of the game it opens up a new light of to what this little gem can be. This game really should not be missed and I wish it was on more consoles than just the 360, this is an experience that everyone should enjoy.
Final Score — 9.5/10
