Metacritic Users NOT Happy About Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 has been selling fairly well over the past couple of days, and scoring fairly high on a number of credible review sources. However, websites such as Metacritic which allow users as well as critics to review are telling a different tale.  Of the three different scores (for Xbox, PS3, and PC), not a single one has achieved above a 3 out of 10 rating. The brunt of the complaints primarily accuse Modern Warfare 3 of being an over-glorified map pack, stating that the gameplay, graphics, and weapons have changed very little since Modern Warfare 2. Other complaints target the game’s incredibly short campaign, lack of creativity in multiplayer map layout, and perhaps most importantly, full $60 price tag. One user creatively pointed out that Activision has been treating Call of Duty almost like a sports game, releasing a new, virtually unchanged edition each year.
While many of the user comments may seem to all say the same things (and a suspicious number laud Battlefield 3 as a vastly superior game), the backlash is far too large and diverse to be intentionally organized. Gamers of all platforms and backgrounds have been giving the game low scores of 1, 2, and even 0. While I can’t speak for the majority or the minority as I haven’t played the game, it’s easy and safe to say that there are a LOT of people not happy about the latest installment of Modern Warfare.

they are ofcourse battlefield fanboys. they bought a sequel and why are they complaining it’s like mw2?

This seems really petty to me.
Sure, MW3 doesn’t break much in the way of new ground.
But it provides a single player experience that is a *lot* better than Battlefield 3, and it refines a multiplayer mode that a lot of players consider to be the best FPS experience on the market.
There is no reason why Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 can’t *both* exist on their own merits, instead of trying to bash the “big guy”. Not cool.

Yes, though short, the sp campaign experience of mw3 is much better than bf3. but they really are different games, mw3 is just a run & gun, fastpaced, player vs player type. whereas bf3 is more vehicular and squad based and the mp part is said to be really better than anyother.
but the fanboyism going wild, giving 0 scores to the competitors, is no good.
i haven’t played bf3 yet and i’m not going to play if it is not on steam. call me a steam fanboy. 😛

not really but, i’ll wait. i’m hearing rumours of bf3 coming to steam. if that doesn’t happen, i’ll get it at end of the semister.

Let’s take all the BF3 players and put them against MW3 players, let them battle it out.
