MW3 DLC coming March 20

The DLC is being released as a collection of multi-player maps and spec ops missions and will be available on March 20th for X360. That that play on PS3 and PC will have to wait until the DLC eventually makes it way down the pipeline to them, I would guess about a month. It will include the maps Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch, and Black Box, as well as Special Ops missions Black Ice and Negotiator. This content was actually developed by three different devs, Infinity Ward, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, this should make for an interesting mix of style and game play. Along with the coming DLC, content will also be available for COD: Elite subscribers on the March 13.

Gaming in Stereo: Classics Continued Wednesday

[display_podcast] Yes, yes I know; two Halo songs in one week, this is an outrage! But I wanted to take the rest of the week to dedicate the article to classic video game tunes, ones that everyone should know no matter how “Hardcore” or “Casual” you are. Today’s is, I would say, the most memorable tune to come from the original Xbox. Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix by Martin o’Donnell off of the Halo 2 Official Soundtrack is as iconic as the massive size of the Xbox and the “Duke” controller. So, sit back and enjoy the rock anthem that defined a console and have a great Wednesday. http://www.bungiestore.com/Halo-2-Vol.-1/A/B00067RF6E.htm

Developer of LIMBO looking into multi platform development, including mobile

LIMBO, created by developer Playdead, may be coming to a mobile device near you. The developer has stated that it is investigating new platforms for which to branch out in development. Whether this means a LIMBO port, new games to come or both we dont know, seems silly though that LIMBO would be left out, its a simple game but was well received and gained popularity fast so if the developer breaks into the mobile development arena I would expect to see an Andoid and iOS version. Should Playdead get into more platform development I think we can expect to start seeing some interesting things come down the pipeline. As small and simple a game as LIMBO was its production values were high and it screamed quality and talent. To see more games with such uniqueness and build quality would be nothing lessRead more…

Gaming in Stereo: Classic Tuesday

[display_podcast]   Today we are going to do things very simple and listen to a classic. A simple tune from every gamer’s history and one that came in a superb package. The Ground Theme (From Super Mario Brothers) is one game theme that you can even catch casual gamers humming from time to time. This song is from my personal copy of the Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition that was released for the Wii in late 2010. It was a good dedication to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mario franchise. Enjoy classic Tuesday!     http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-All-Stars-Limited-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0049DYNNO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330409211&sr=8–1

Mass Effect 3 MMO is being talked about

Bioware founders have been thinking about the possibility of a Mass Effect MMO, something I think we can all be excited about should ideas meet development. Mass Effect is such a huge universe that even the large in depth games dont really begin to scratch the surface. Something that has been acknowledged by the founders of Bioware. Dr. Greg Zeschuk stated, “It’s daunting, but the neat thing is it would lend itself to a different type of game play. It’s fun to think about,”.….“I imagine people think it would be just like Mass Effect as it is… but there’s lots of people there. It’s really interesting, I don’t know. It’s a tough one.” Dr. Ray Muzyka mentioned a “possibility space”, which is areas of the franchise that can and should be extended. Muzyka had this to say. “When you deliver a game, and you deliverRead more…

Gaming in Stereo: Somber Halo Monday

[display_podcast] Today we take a look back at another Halo 3 song off the official soundtrack. Say what you will about the Halo series, but Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatore have created an epic in the sound department. Today’s track is Never Forget, a beautiful orchestra and piano suite that echo’s the sorrow, the sacrifice, the epic conflict that spanned across the galaxy and beyond. I just can’t get enough of this soundtrack and the series. In a world full of “modern” setting shooters, I really miss the epic sci-fi conflict. I hope you enjoy this calm and somber Monday. http://www.bungiestore.com/category/30116721781/1/Soundtracks.htm

Gaming in Stereo: Lost Planet Friday

[display_podcast] Lost Planet came out early in the 360’s life span and is still one of my favorite games of this current generation. The game was clearly made by a Japanese developer for a western audience, there are footprints all over. Though despite this being a first attempt at creating a game for the western audiences, master mind Keiji Inafune help create a game that had a great single player as well as a great international online community. Lost Planet was one of the first games I played on Xbox Live and I made a lot of international friends due to the popularity of the game across the pond. Today’s track comes from the collector’s edition that I have and sadly is the only way to get the soundtrack. The good news is they are on Amazon for twenty bucks,Read more…

Gaming in Stereo: Bottom Feeder Thursday

[display_podcast] This song was one of the reasons I started this feature article. I would listen to this song in the shower, in the car, on walks, and anytime in between. This is one of my favorite songs in gaming and off the Bastion: Official Soundtrack. I can’t give Darren Korb enough praise for the soundtrack. This song comes late in the game but just has a pulsing beat and a hint of Arabic tones; it’s just a wonderful mix. Today’s song is The Bottom Feeders; I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.   http://store.supergiantgames.com/collections/frontpage/products/official-bastion-soundtrack-digital-download

Nintendo gives us some insight on some great upcoming games

This morning via Nintendo’s public announcement channel, Nintendo Direct; Reggie Fils-Aime made some news on some up coming titles, another impressive 3DS eShop title, and an announcement that is sure to excite some RPG fans. The first game they showed off was Dillon’s Rolling Western, a action/tower defense hybrid that will keep this new flow of quality games from the eShop going. With titles like Pushmo and Mutant Mudds, Nintendo is finally pushing their downloadable platform in the right direction. Next the showed off Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is looking extremely promising. They did state again the game will come packaged with a small stand, since your using the circle pad, L button and touch screen as your main controls, which could be awkward.
