Less Than A Week Left/Xbox 360 Suggestions
Well, my “coming-of-age” saga is almost at a close- only four more days until I can legally buy firearms and little sticks that you light on fire in order to obtain cancer. I have been busy as hell this past week with graduation related stuff, as well as preparing for my aunt’s wedding on the 18th. Starting next Monday, you can expect at least one article every single day from yours truly as I burst back on the scene with opinions and ideas. ^In lieu of any relevant images, here is me playing the trumpet in a cow suit. I’m starting a regimen of stuff I will do for a prescribed amount of time every week. This includes getting exercise (mainly swimming, just cause I happen to like swimming a hell of a lot more than running), studying languages (Spanish,Read more…

Brief Update from CharcoalCoyote
Hey everyone. Just dropping in for a few to let everyone know what’s up. I’ve not dropped off the face of the planet; far from it, in fact. I’m graduating from high school (yes, I’m seventeen years old for those of you who were unaware) on the 11th of this month, and I’m turning eighteen on the 17th. My aunt is getting married on the 18th. With all of this junk going on, there’s been next to no time for anything that involves sitting still for long periods of time. However, expect an extravaganza of new stuff whenever I return! Stuff to look forward to includes: Indie Games vs. Big Name Developers- my article that I owe DrPixel from the QWOP Challenge. A look at Portal 2 Multiplayer. Another “Games for Gameless Situations” article. A look at DiRT 3 (andRead more…

Hands-on Preview: Dungeon Siege 3…..
I wasn’t always a fan of RPGs or ARPGs, but that has been changing as of late. I have enjoyed Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and its sequel, all of the Bethesda games (Elder Scrolls (starting with Morrowind), Fallout 3), the Fable series if you want to call them RPGs of some sort, Torchlight (which I may start my second play through here shortly) and of course anything that comes from that great place in the sky called Bioware as of late (yes, I am still currently enjoying Dragon Age 2). Normally my key genres of choice are action/adventure, racing, FPS, and some sports titles here and there to round it my gaming portfolio. As I grow older though, dungeon crawling, gathering large amounts of loot like swag at a convention, and stat and skill tracking are becoming more and moreRead more…

Qwop Challenge Winner!
Although it was technically four days late, I still did receive one submission to the QWOP Challenge! With a grand score of 101 meters (metres if you’re European), and TWO rule bends, our winner is.… Dr. Pixel! He requested that I write an article about “indie games in general”. Pretty broad of a topic, but I’ll definitely nail together an article for him. I’d like to thank everyone who attempted QWOP, and I’d like to encourage everyone to get in on my next challenge! I’ll give you three hints as to what it is: It involves significant amounts of luck. It involves a console that is not current-gen. It will give me a chance to practice my casting skills. I’m currently fairly busy (I graduate the 11th of next month!), but I’ll have plenty of time to post the challengeRead more…

The Witcher 2: The Review
Back in October 2007 relatively unknown developer, CD Projekt with Atari released The Witcher. The original provided one of the most authentic, original and captivating RPG experiences ever to land on the PC or any platform for that matter. The game was not without its problems however as it contained many graphical glitches, extremely long loading times between sequences and a censored version released in North America. The company responded to these issues by not only releasing an updated version of the game but adding in new quests, graphical enhancements and reduced loading times but providing it free to customers who had already purchased the game. In fact CD Projekt spent over 1 million dollars resolving the issues its customers presented to them. Ever since The Witcher was released fans have been anxiously awaiting a continuation of the epic storyRead more…

CharcoalCoyote’s Qwop Challenge!
So, I’m sure many of you have seen this game called QWOP by now. It’s pretty old news, and the creator has already put out a new one called GIRP (which is just as hard, but in a different way.) If you’ve still not seen it, HERE is a link to the game on its home website. Most of you who have played have only stuck it out to the ten meter mark before ragequitting (I’ve made it to fifty meters three times, but never gotten past it.) So, I challenge you, TGB readers, staff, and whoever else would like to play: Beat QWOP. Go the distance. Run all the way to the end, and jump as far as you can. But why, you may ask? Why would I consume that much of your time? How about this; the winnerRead more…

Wishing for a different type of MMO…..
I have played World of Warcraft. I play (once PSN comes back to life) D.C. Universe. I have tried EVE Online. As much as I like DCU (I hear the moans, it’s not that bad), it really does not hit nor represent what I want in a MMO, and nothing out there does. I love fantasy settings, WoW has a great setting but the combat doesn’t do it for me and the art style (while there are times I love it) looks like a Hanna Barbera cartoon. I want a MMO to make an alternate life in a world that I could never visit (no not Second Life), to be a world where every players actions affect the next player and so on and so forth. The idea I have in my head for my perfect MMO, is just that;Read more…
